Elliptical HIIT Workout

This is one of my absolute favorite go-to workouts!

WHY THE ELLIPTICAL?

The elliptical is a machine that is present in just about every standard gym – making accessibility very easy! Ellipticals also remove a lot of the pressure on joints during movement, providing a much needed rest from the constant wear and tear of running. But the primary reason I love the elliptical for a good sweaty HIIT workout is that you can adjust your speed quickly and safely. Completing a workout that is 20 seconds hard, 10 seconds easy on a treadmill is difficult to execute, and puts an athlete at risk for injury.

THE WORKOUT

Warm up: 5-10 minutes easy

HIIT session (x3-5): 20 seconds hard, 10 seconds easy for 5 minutes with 3 min break in between sets

  • “hard” means going as fast as you can (it should hurt!)

Cool down: 5-10 minutes easy and stretching
